“This title confirms that we are on the right track” – Rithvik & Nicolas, ATP Chile Open Champions
In a sensational display of doubles dominance, the unseeded duo of Rithvik Bollipalli (India) and Nicolas Barrientos (Colombia) clinched the ATP Santiago title with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory over top-seeded Argentinians Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni.
In this process, Rithvik became the first Indian to win an ATP Tour title in South America and is also the youngest in the world in the top-70 of the ATP Doubles Rankings.
The champions took time to speak to the press after winning the title.
Q: What this victory in Santiago means to you?
Nicolás Barrientos: It really means a lot to me. It’s great as a team to have this win together, to tell us that, that we’re doing the right thing and we’re on the right track.
So it just gives us motivation. And even better for me to do it here, so close to my home in South America, with great people, great tournament. It’s an unbelievable feeling.
Q: Rithvik You come from so far away. What motivated you to come to Chile?
Rithvik Bollipalli: This was the only tour event, I was getting into, and that’s the reason I’m here. I’m glad I’m here. It’s a beautiful city and hopefully I’ll be back here again.
Q: What is the thing you like the most about Chile?
Rithvik Bollipalli: The mountains are pretty. I don’t see them very often from where I am. I really like the people. They’re all very friendly. They always have a good vibe around them. So, yeah, those are the two things.

Q: And now, how you will celebrate? Will you show Rithvik the Latina night?
Nicolás Barrientos: I will try to drag him out tonight, take it somewhere. But he’s a committed guy, so I cannot go crazy with him. But, yeah, I’ll try to show him around something.
Q: Rithvik Do you want to see the Chilean night?
Rithvik Bollipalli: For sure, yeah. But I have a flight at 3 in the morning, so maybe it won’t be too long, but hopefully.
