Sumit Nagal kicks off his Roland Garros campaign with a commanding win
India’s No. 1 men’s singles player, Sumit Nagal, made a commanding start to his French Open 2025 qualifying campaign with a straight-sets victory over World No. 141 Mitchell Krueger in the first round.
Nagal dismantled the American 6-1, 6-1 in just over an hour, showcasing sharp movement and solid baseline play. Krueger, a proven clay-court performer who reached the final of the ATP 100 Oeiras Challenger last week, struggled to find answers against the Indian’s aggressive game.
With this win, Nagal moves into the second round of qualifying, where he will face Austria’s Jurij Rodionov (World No. 225) on Thursday, May 22.
A win in QR2 will take Nagal one step closer to securing a spot in the main draw at Roland Garros.
