Penn Mile, Other Stakes Again Rescheduled; Now June 27
With significant, persistent rainfall in the local forecast for the next several days, the four turf stakes races carded for Friday, June 20th at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course have been rescheduled for Friday, June 27th. The four turf stakes races are:
- $400,000 Grade 3 Penn Mile
- $150,000 Penn Oaks
- $75,000 Alphabet Soup (Pennsylvania-Breds)
- $75,000 Lyphard (Pennsylvania-Breds)
Those four stakes will go— as drawn—on June 27th. The other 7 non-stakes races carded for this Friday, June 20th will be run as
scheduled, with this Friday’s 1st post remaining at 5 pm.
Of course, the safety of our athletes — both human and equine — is everyone’s top priority. Moving these four stakes to June 27th also helps ensure that our horsemen will be able to run their horses on the turf, as intended.
Larry Collmus, the voice of NBC Sports’ Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Breeders’ Cup coverage, will still be the special guest race caller for the four turf stakes rescheduled for June 27th. Prior to that night’s racing, Larry will be holding a “meet and greet” with our fans.
