Basavareddy Secures Maiden Masters Win at Cincinnati

American tennis player Nishesh Basavareddy has secured his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 main draw victory 🎾, defeating lucky loser Aleksandar Vukic in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters.

A Hard-Fought Win

Basavareddy, a 20-year-old wild card entrant, battled through a tight match, winning in straight sets with a score of 7-6(5), 7-5. Originally scheduled to play against Gaël Monfils, Basavareddy adapted quickly to facing a different opponent. He displayed impressive baseline consistency which was a key factor in securing the win in two very close sets.

Looking Ahead

This victory marks a significant milestone in Basavareddy’s young career. He’s had a successful journey so far, including winning the 2022 US Open boys’ doubles title, and he turned professional in late 2024. This win is not only his maiden Masters 1000 victory but also his first ATP Tour win on American soil. Basavareddy’s next challenge will be a second-round match against the third-seeded player, Alexander Zverev, in their first head-to-head meeting.
