Anandita Upadhyay wins South Asia qualifier at Roland Garros Junior Series
India’s 14-year-old tennis sensation Anandita Upadhyay has made headlines by winning the Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault – South, Southeast & East Asia Qualifier, held in Hainan, China.
Upadhyay displayed remarkable grit and consistency, winning six matches in six days to secure her place in the upcoming Roland-Garros Junior Series in Japan. A victory there would grant her direct entry into the prestigious Roland-Garros Junior Championships 2026 in Paris.
In the final, Upadhyay battled past 15-year-old China’s Siqi Wang, clinching the title with a hard-fought 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory. Alongside the trophy and coveted qualification, she also earned a prize purse of $2000 (approx. 1.75 lakh INR).
