Ted Noffey Stays Undefeated in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

Ted Noffey  prevailed in the battle of East vs. West, keeping his unbeaten record intact with a victory in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) Oct. 31 at Del Mar.

Racing in the silks of owner Spendthrift Farm, Ted Noffey stalked front-running Brant  through :23.46 and :46.99 early splits before heading his rival at the top of the lane. The two grays dueled down the lane, with Ted Noffey edging away late and holding sway over a closing Mr. A. P. .

Brant held on for third.

Trained and ridden by Hall of Famers Todd Pletcher and John Velazquez, respectively, Ted Noffey ($3.60) clocked the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.25 on a fast main track.

The winner of the Hopeful Stakes (G1) and Breeders’ Futurity (G1) this year, Ted Noffey likely sealed his Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old male with his third grade 1 score. Bred in Kentucky by Aaron & Marie Jones LLC, he is a son of Spendthrift’s six-time leading stallion Into Mischief  .
