J100 Pune: Major Upsets Rock Girls’ Singles Draw


PUNE, INDIA – December 3, 2025 – The Girls’ Singles Main Draw at the J100 Pune Junior Tennis Championship was thrown into disarray today as three seeded players were eliminated during a fiercely contested second round (Round of 16). Of the eight matches played, four were decided in dramatic three-set battles, signaling a wide-open race for the title.


Upsets and Three-Set Sagas

The biggest shock came with the defeats of the third, fourth, and sixth seeds:

  • Indian hopeful Parthsarthi Arun Mundhe (IND) staged a magnificent comeback, fighting back from a tie-break loss in the first set to defeat third seed Aishwarya Jadhav (IND) [3] with a score of 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3.
  • In a highly impressive straight-sets upset, Harsha Karthika Oruganti (IND) took down the fourth seed, Satima Toregen (KAZ) [4], winning 6-3, 6-3.
  • The upsets continued as Adiya Omarbek (KAZ) overpowered sixth seed Angel Warang (AUS) [6] in a decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Even the top seeds were not immune to the pressure. Top seed Albina Kakenova (KAZ) [1] survived a major scare, losing the first set 1-6 before finding her rhythm to defeat Diya Chaudhary 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Second seed Diya Ramesh Ramesh (IND) [2] also needed three sets to prevail over Deepshika Vinayagamurthy, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

Fifth seed Kseniia Akhrameeva (RUS) [5] and seventh seed Dinara De Silva (SRI) [7] were among the few seeds to advance comfortably in straight sets.
