Rohan Bopanna Launches RBTA at Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence
Veteran Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna officially launched his tennis academy – the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA) – at the prestigious Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bangalore.
The vision of RBTA is to nurture young talent from the grassroots level, providing them with world-class infrastructure, structured development programs, and professional coaching. The academy aims to create a strong pipeline of players who can represent India on the global stage.
The launch event saw an enthusiastic turnout from the Indian tennis fraternity. Notable attendees included Kishore Patil, MD and CEO of KPIT Technologies, who is also the driving force behind the Double Dreams of India project. Sharmada Balu, Coach Balu Sir, and Dragan Bukumirovic—a long-time coach and former player associated with Bopanna—also graced the occasion and conveyed their best wishes for the initiative.
In a heartwarming gesture after the formal proceedings, Rohan Bopanna invited everyone to join him on court for a hit, an act that not only brought joy to many but also reflected his humility and passion for the sport. The moment was a highlight of the event, earning smiles and applause from all in attendance.
