Arqana Unveils May Breeze Up Sale Catalog
The catalog for the 2025 Arqana Breeze Up Sale, which will take place from May 8-10 at Deauville, has been published online.
It offers a selection of 192 well-bred 2-year-olds, including 52 lots by some of the world’s best stallions: Justify (7), Wootton Bassett (7), Lope de Vega (6), Sea The Stars (5), Siyouni (5), Too Darn Hot (5), Camelot (4), Night of Thunder (4), Kingman (3), Dubawi (2), Tapit (2), Gun Runner , and Not This Time .
They will be cantered on the grass at Deauville racecourse May 8 at midday before going under the hammer on May 10 from 11 a.m. local time.
The group-winning graduates include Shareholder (2024 Norfolk Stakes, G2), as well as Je Zous, Columbus, Without Word, and Ensued, the last-named also finishing runner-up in last month’s Hong Kong Gold Cup (G1).
The class of 2024, meanwhile, featured Ruling Court , Cathedral, Dropshot, Gallant, Batal, Youmzain, Carla Ridge, Shes Perfect, Morena Queen, Rafale Design, and Centigrade.
According to Arqana, among particular note in the catalog are:
- A colt by Dubawi out of Queen Mary Stakes (G2) winner and group 1-placed Anthem Alexander (Lot 8)
- A half brother by Siyouni (Lot 19) to group 1 scorer Aspetar; also a grandson of the dual classic heroine Alexandrova
- A half brother by Kingman to group winner and 2022 Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T) runner-up Stone Age (Lot 21), from the close family of Bright Sky, Bright Moon, and Board Meeting
- A half sister by Wootton Bassett to classic winner Hawksmoor and group scorer Royal Dornoch (Lot 23)
- A daughter of Camelot (Lot 116) from the close family of Left Hand and Aventure, as well as the dam of First Look, runner-up in the Prix du Jockey Club (G1) and the dam of Audubon Park, unbeaten and a listed winner from two starts
- A sister to group 1 winner Zellie (Lot 149), from the family of the excellent performers Speciosa and Pride
The most in-demand American sires are also well represented at the sale, and aside from those already mentioned they include American Pharoah , City of Light , Constitution , Good Magic , Kitten’s Joy, Medaglia d’Oro , More Than Ready, and Practical Joke .
A number of young sires are also represented, and buyers will have the opportunity to buy the first crops of Essential Quality , Knicks Go , Maxfield , Palace Pier, Silver State , Space Blues, and St Mark’s Basilica, as well as second-crop sires Earthlight, Ghaiyyath, Hello Youmzain, Kameko , Mckinzie , Mohaather, Persian King, Pinatubo, Romanised, Sergei Prokofiev, War of Will , and Wooded.
The lots cataloged are eligible for the Arqana Series, a race program made up of five races open to 2- and 3-year-olds that were offered in Deauville, with a minimum overall prize fund of €1.2 million.
