Bhambri/Borges oust Bopanna/Dodig in Miami

First time pairing of Yuki Bhambri and Nuno Borges pulled off a stunning comeback win against Rohan Bopanna and Ivan Dodig in the first round of the Miami Open. The Indo-Portuguese pair won 7 straight points from 3-7 down in the match tiebreaker, eventually winning 6-4 3-6 [10-7].

Interestingly, the win also means that Yuki Bhambri is now India’s No.1 doubles player, ending Bopanna’s 286 week reign.

Bhambri/Borges will next take on J.Murray/Pavlasek in Round 2. Murray/Pavlasek upset 4th seeds Granollers/Zeballos in Round 1.

This is Bhambri’s mere 2nd doubles appearance at the Miami Open, a Masters 1000 event on the ATP Tour. This is also Bhambri’s 3rd Masters 1000 doubles appearance overall.
