Bhosale Marks Maiden WTA Doubles Final at Jinan Open

Jinan, China – Rutuja Bhosale and partner Wushuang Zheng put together a compelling week at the WTA 125 Jinan Open, stringing together three strong wins to enter the Final. The result marks Bhosale’s first appearance in a WTA-level doubles final, a milestone that came through a tournament run defined by resilience and tactical sharpness.
Building Momentum
The Indo-Chinese pairing opened their campaign with clinical precision, dismantling Kasintseva/Osuigwe 6-1, 7-5 in the Round of 16. What followed was a quarterfinal test against Yi-Tsen Cho / I-Hsuan Cho, the tournament’s second seeds. After dropping the opening set 5-7, Bhosale and Zheng regrouped to claim the second 6-4 before edging the match tiebreak 10-6.
Their semifinal against Hong Kong’s Eudice Chong and China’s Shuo Feng, seeded fourth, also proved to be a stern test. The pair took the first set 6-4, endured a 0-6 loss in the second, then held their nerve in the decisive breaker to advance 10-6.
Final Hurdle
The championship match, however, proved a different challenge altogether. Pridankina and Reyngold maintained control throughout, conceding just four games across two sets. Their form held firm against Bhosale and Zheng’s challenge, as they clinched the title with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Looking Ahead
Despite the loss in the final, Bhosale’s week in Jinan represents tangible progress. The 29-year-old from Pune has now reached her first WTA doubles final, adding another layer to a season that continues to evolve.
Both players will take confidence from their ability to navigate tight situations—winning two consecutive match tiebreaks, displaying composure under pressure.
The tournament may have ended one match short of glory, but the trajectory points upward for Bhosale in particular, whose WTA doubles journey has now crossed a significant threshold.
