Champion Immersive Regroups in Seneca Overnight Stakes
Roughly an hour before Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Good Cheer races for Godolphin and trainer Brad Cox in the $1 million Cotillion Stakes (G1) Sept. 20 at Parx Racing, one of their other top 3-year-old fillies, Immersive , competes in the $175,000 Seneca Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Perfect in four starts last year and awarded an Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old filly of 2024, Immersive seeks to get back in a winning groove after two runner-up finishes in as many starts in 2025. She lost by a neck to Take Charge Milady in kicking off her season in the Monomoy Girl Stakes June 14 at Churchill Downs before checking in 15 lengths behind runaway Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) winner Scottish Lassie July 19 at Saratoga Race Course.
The homebred daughter of Nyquist missed the major spring races due to bone bruising.
Cox said Immersive ran well off a layoff in the Monomoy Girl, and then Scottish Lassie “ran away with things in a really short field. We got her back home to Churchill after that race, and she’s had five solid works leading into the Seneca.”
Florent Geroux rides 6-5 morning-line favorite Immersive, replacing New York-based rider Manny Franco.
Last year, Immersive won a maiden race, the Spinaway Stakes (G1), the Aclibiades Stakes (G1), and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
Six other fillies also entered the 1 1/16-mile Seneca, including Iowa Oaks winner and the dual grade 1-placed Quickick .
