Derby dream alive for Gower

Morphettville trainer Stuart Gower is setting his sights on breaking the decade-long absence of locally trained winners in the South Australian Derby.
His promising gelding, Darknconfidential, is being primed for a tilt at the Group 1 feature, with the upcoming Port Adelaide Guineas serving as a crucial stepping stone.
Darknconfidential, a son of Cosmic Force, showcased his potential with an impressive victory over a mile in his latest outing. Gower plans to progress him through the Port Adelaide Guineas and the Chairman’s Stakes, assessing his readiness for the Derby during the Adelaide Carnival.
“He’s shown so much ability,” Gower told Racing.com
“Being a late-November foal, he’s taken a while to mature, but he’s coming together now and he’s turned into a lovely horse.”
The last South Australian-trained horse to win the Derby was Richard Jolly’s Kushadasi in 2014. Gower hopes Darknconfidential can end the dominance of interstate raiders in the prestigious race.
