ENG-W vs IND-W: England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt to miss remaining T20 series with injury; Beaumont named skipper

England will be without its captain Nat Sciver-Brunt for the remainder of the T20 Series against India, having suffered a groin injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Saturday.

“Scans have confirmed that Nat Sciver-Brunt will miss the rest of the Vitality IT20 series against India due to the injury to her left groin she sustained in Bristol,” the ECB said in a statement.

“Tammy Beaumont will continue to captain in her absence, with Maia Bouchier replacing Sciver-Brunt in the squad. Sciver-Brunt is expected to be available for selection for the start of the ODI series.”

Sciver-Brunt was forced to leave the field during the second T20 match at The Oval, with vice-captain Sophia Dunkley taking over the reigns during the game, which England won by five runs.

Tammy, having played 247 international matches, will lead the side for the first time, looking to turn the tide for the hosts, who trail 1-2 in the five-match series.
