GT vs DC, IPL 2025: Badani hopes Fraser-McGurk fires in time for Capitals; Titans banking on Rashid finding old form
The benefit of a team topping the charts of a competition is that sometimes, players struggling for form are given a longer rope.
With five wins in six games, Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has thrown his weight behind Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has managed to eke out 55 runs in six innings.
“He is someone who gives us massive starts, and someone who is a match-winner. This year hasn’t been his best, compared to last year. But he is likely to be a player who can come good for us at any given time. . .”
Five wins in six games give us the cushion to have someone like him in the XI. If he fires, it is happy days for us,” the former India cricketer said on the eve of DC’s match against Gujarat Titans.

Meanwhile, GT’s assistant coach Ashish Kapoor kept faith with leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who hasn’t been at his best over the last two seasons.
Kapoor said that Rashid’s change of action, after a back surgery following the 2023 ODI World Cup, had contributed to the Afghan’s dwindling returns in the Indian Premier League.
“He needs to make a few adjustments. His front hand, which was rather closed, should be facing the batsman. He is doing that now and is bowling better lengths in the last one or two games.
“Hopefully, he gets his confidence back, gets a few wickets, and then we can see the old Rashid Khan again.”
