“He Showed Me What I’m Capable Of”: Maaya Revathi on her time with Toni Nadal
For any aspiring tennis player, the opportunity to learn from a legend is a dream. For Maaya Revathi, that dream has become a powerful reality, as she recently detailed her experience training under the guidance of renowned coach Toni Nadal.
Reflecting on her time at the academy, Revathi shared that she seizes every opportunity to work with the iconic coach. “Whenever I’m at the academy, most of the time I work with Toni Nadal if he’s there,” she stated.
“I think probably just 10 days with him has taught me a million things,” she explained. “In terms of how to be professional on court, you know, what’s the technique that I should play with, you know, how do I train, the method of training and how long I can push myself.”
“I think working with him… more than I’ve learned a lot from him, but I’ve seen more than that,” Revathi said. “I’ve seen what I’m capable of myself. That is something that he showed me.”
This newfound understanding of her own capabilities is a testament to Nadal’s famous coaching philosophy, which often focuses on discipline, resilience, and pushing athletes beyond their perceived boundaries. For Revathi, it’s a breakthrough for which she is deeply thankful.
“So I’m very grateful for that,” she concluded.
