Highlights – Sumit Nagal vs Ergi Kirkin at ATP 100 Monza


Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal showcased his grit and resilience in a marathon opening-round qualifying match at the ATP 100 clay court event in Monza, Italy. Facing Turkey’s Ergi Kirkin, Nagal battled from a set and a break down to seal a hard-fought 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-2 victory in over three hours.

The match was a test of endurance and mental strength. After dropping the first set 5-7 and trailing 1-4 in the second, the World No. 137 mounted a spirited comeback. He forced a tiebreak and dominated it 7-2 to push the match into a deciding third set. Even in the final set, Nagal had to claw back from an early break before eventually cruising to a 6-2 win.

With this victory, Nagal moves into the final round of qualifying where he will face Italian wildcard Federico Iannaccone (World No. 485) on Monday for a spot in the main draw.
