IPL 2025: Rahane completes 5000 runs in Indian Premier League during KKR vs CSK match
Ajinkya Rahane completed 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League during Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
Rahane became the ninth batter, and seventh Indian, to reach the milestone. He achieved the feat in the 197th innings of his IPL career. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers and KL Rahul are the other players to tally 5000 runs in the league.
Rahane made his IPL debut in the inaugural season of the tournament, back in 2008. He has played for six different teams since, and is currently leading Kolkata Knight Riders during his second stint with the franchise.
He last represented KKR during the 2022 season, before moving on to Chennai Super Kings for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
