KSLTA bids to host BJK Cup Play-offs in Bengaluru in November
The Karanataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) has made a bid to host the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup play-offs in Bengaluru, Indian Tennis Daily has learnt from reliable sources.
India has qualified for the 2025 BJK Cup play-offs for only the second time in its history and will compete with 20 other nations for seven spots up for grabs in the 2026 BJK Cup Qualifiers.
The play-offs are scheduled to be held in November and a decision on the venues chosen is expected to be made in June.
The 21 teams will be divided into seven groups of 3 teams each who will play each other in a round-robin format with the winners of each group advancing to the Qualifiers. The other 14 teams will contest their respective regional Group I event in 2026.
The 21 teams who will contest the Play-offs include 12 teams from qualifying round:
Canada
Poland
Slovakia
Czech Republic
Australia
Germany
Netherlands
Romania
Switzerland
Brazil
Colombia
Denmark
It also includes the teams who advanced from the Group I zones
Argentina
Belgium
Croatia
India
Mexico
New Zealand
Portugal
Turkey
Slovenia
India qualified for the Play-offs after finishing second in the Asia/ Oceania Group I zonal ties which were held in Pune (organized by Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association) in February.
