LSG vs GT, IPL 2025: It is a very big thing to play at home ground, says Lucknow’s David Miller

Playing in home conditions and using it to advantage is very important for a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), David Miller said on the eve of Lucknow Super Giants’ match against the Gujarat Titans in Lucknow on Friday.

Like every other team, the Super Giants also held a preparatory camp here at the Ekana Cricket Stadium ahead of IPL 2025, and Miller emphasised that the team is focused on playing to its strengths at home.

“It is a very big thing to play at home and be here for the preparation leading up to the IPL; getting to know our conditions, playing a couple of warmup games here prior,” Miller said.

“The dimensions of the field, the conditions of the pitch, and all these kinds of things come into effect. So, if we can use that to our advantage, it does help us in the league. And then if we can pick up a couple of wins away from home, which we have done already and continue to do that, I have no doubt we will be set for a good position at the back end of the tournament,” he added.

Lucknow is currently fifth in the points table with three wins out of five. The South African feels that his team is in a good position and that it could’ve been four wins had it not fumbled its first match against Delhi Capitals.

“Barring the first game where we lost, feel like we lost that game; we possibly should have won that game, and it would have been four from five. The games we have won, we kind of found ways to win after being under pressure with our bowling and batting at certain stages, and getting through that and still winning is encouraging,” Miller said.

In five innings, Miller hasn’t faced a lot of deliveries (62) and has scored 90 runs at a strike over 145. He has only been dismissed twice.

On his form, he said, “I feel like I’m in good space, hitting the ball well. Getting behind the top four or five batters that have been doing really well in the competition. So just trying to fulfill my role where I can.”
