Nishesh Basavareddy (USA) is back, defeats top-100 player in ATP 500 Acapulco
Acapulco, Mexico – American Nishesh Basavareddy marked his return to the court with an impressive win over Australian veteran James Duckworth in the first qualifying round of the ATP 500 event in Acapulco. Basavareddy, displaying his class after a dedicated training period, defeated the No. 94-ranked Duckworth 6-4, 6-2.
Basavareddy’s strong return game was key, breaking Duckworth’s serve four times and neutralizing Duckworth’s renowned second serve and net play.
He is set to face fellow American wildcard Stefan Kozlov for a spot in the main draw. Kozlov, known for his junior achievements and a previous victory over Grigor Dimitrov in Acapulco in 2022, is anticipated to be a tough competitor.
With his recent performance, hopes are high that Basavareddy will continue his momentum and secure a place in his first ATP 500 main draw.
