Nishesh Basavareddy (USA) has kicked off his ATP 250 Los Cabos campaign with a commanding victory in the first round, defeating Colombian qualifier Nicolas Mejia 6-4, 6-1. The 20-year-old American showcased a strong performance on the hard courts of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, securing his first tour-level win since the start of January.
This win marks a positive start for Basavareddy, who has been steadily climbing the ranks. Currently positioned sixth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah, he is aiming to make a return to the Next Gen ATP Finals this year. Earlier in the season, Basavareddy reached the semi-finals in Auckland, demonstrating his potential on the ATP Tour.
In the second round, Basavareddy is set to face off against the eighth seed, Adam Walton of Australia.
