PBKS vs RCB, IPL 2025: Punjab Kings looks to continue winning momentum against Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Punjab Kings (PBKS) is enjoying one of its better starts in the Indian Premier League under new captain Shreyas Iyer.
Halfway through the tournament, Punjab Kings has climbed to the second spot with 10 points and will look to cement the position when it takes on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium on Sunday.
Fresh from a five-wicket win in the rain-truncated match against RCB in Bengaluru on Friday, PBKS will look to keep up the winning momentum.
Yuzvendra Chahal is making the ball talk after an indifferent start to the season. Chahal’s wickets in the middle overs have been the key factor in PBKS’ wins in the last two matches. The RCB bowlers will be wary of Kings’ batting firepower too, with almost all batters, with the exception of Glenn Maxwell, making a significant contribution.
PBKS has started well at home this season, winning two out of the three matches. However, PBKS will be up against a side which has been formidable on the road. RCB, which has won four consecutive matches away from home, will be looking for revenge after losing on Friday. On a tacky pitch in Bengaluru, the RCB batters came a cropper but they will be more at home in Mullanpur, where the track has traditionally favoured batters except the game in which PBKS defended 111 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Apart from finding consistency with the bat, RCB will also want leg spinner Suyash Sharma to step up after he leaked runs and undid the efforts of other bowlers when the two teams met the last time.
