India’s top-ranked tennis player, Sumit Nagal (ATP Rank 296), has successfully qualified for the main draw of the ATP Challenger 100 in Trieste, Italy, with two dominant straight-set wins in the qualifying rounds.

Nagal began his campaign by defeating local wildcard Luca Castagnola (ATP Rank 589) with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory. He then secured his place in the main draw by beating Austria’s Neil Oberleitner (ATP Rank 396) 6-4, 6-2 in the final round of qualifying.

Displaying strong clay-court form and composure throughout both matches, Nagal will now turn his focus to the main draw, where his first-round opponent will top seed and World No.96 Chun-Hsin Tseng. The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old is aiming for a deep run in Trieste to boost his ATP ranking and build momentum during the European clay season.
